Jennifer Yturbide

Jennifer Yturbide was raised in Northern Nevada in Washoe and Douglas Counties. She is a graduate of George Whittell High School in Lake Tahoe. Jennifer completed her undergraduate studies and attained her Bachelor of Arts from San Francisco State University with honors. Inspired by her uncle, Bonifacio V. Yturbide, a remarkable man and renowned San Francisco appellate attorney, Jennifer earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco’s School of Law in 1987, graduating cum laude. After practicing in the Bay Area for 10 years, Jennifer returned home to Douglas County to raise her family.

Jennifer has broad and varied experience in the public and private sectors. She has a general law practice that focuses on areas involving elder issues, trusts, estates, estate administration, family law, government practice, and litigation. Jennifer began practicing law as a civil litigator in downtown San Francisco. She is a former Douglas County prosecutor, a former judicial staff attorney for the California Supreme Court, and a former judicial staff attorney for Nevada's Ninth Judicial District Court for Judge Michael P. Gibbons. Jennifer has also served as Judge Pro Tem for the Tahoe Township Justice Court in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. She is admitted to practice law in Nevada (1997), California (1987), the Northern Nevada and California federal courts (1997 and 1987), and the United States Supreme Court (2004). Jennifer currently serves as Town Counsel for the Town of Gardnerville.

In her free time, Jennifer rides horses with friends and family in the nearby mountains and valleys. She enjoys attending movies at Heritage Park, various local concert series, the local farmer's market, the Genoa Candy Dance, and functions supporting the East Fork Fire District.

Karen Humphreys

Karen Humphreys brings 30 years of experience as a legal assistant to Yturbide Law, and is the first person clients are likely to meet. Karen began her training as a legal assistant with the law firm of Hart & Healzer in Jerome, Idaho. She moved with her family to Minot, North Dakota where she worked at the McGee Law Firm as an assistant to the lead paralegal. In 1992, Karen began working for Olson & Burns PC as a legal assistant to the managing partner, and worked for the firm for fifteen years. In her tenure at that firm she was active in NALS, the association for legal professionals. Karen served as President of her local association, and was also President for the North Dakota Association of Legal Secretaries. She obtained her PLS certification through NALS in 2002. In 2011, Karen moved to the Minden area to be closer to her children and grandchildren, and began working with Jennifer Yturbide. In her free time, Karen enjoys the outdoors with family and friends.
